SAWMILLING

We have been sawmilling for the past 150 years and in that time we have built up a wealth of knowledge and experience. Though most of the time we can supply a stock product to meet your requirements, we can also cut to order almost any size and in any quantity. The company has two sawmill lines at present, a softwood mill at Midgley producing fencing and landscaping timber and a Beam mill at the Brigg site, which cuts longer or larger section material from either Oak or Douglas fir.

Softwood Sawmilling

With a capacity of around 100 cubic metres per week the sawmill at Midgley is able to quickly turn around most orders. As well as a main Stenner band saw line, we have a wide range of finishing saws that can plane, point, drill or notch timber to suit most special requirements. We also offer an in-house treatment facility to ensure all softwood is fully protected from the rigours of the weather. Please be aware that the mill only saws fresh ‘green’ timber ideal for fencing or landscaping projects, not internal use graded timber (though this can be sourced by our sales department).

Joinery

We have two fully equipped joiners shops based at Midgley and Wentworth with the skills to make both stock items and bespoke products. Typical customer requests are for hand or entrance gates, shelters, benches, arches and seating. We can undertake bespoke projects with our joiners working from your plans or we can offer a design and build service. If you have an idea we’ll try our best to make it a reality.

Panel Making

We have a team of panel makers who make many of our most popular panels to our own tried and tested specification. Our panel makers can make most non standard panels to order or adapt existing ones to suit end of runs or special requirements. As with any special order, please speak to our sales staff and we’ll always try to make what you require.

Beam Sawing

The sawmill at Brigg has been specifically designed to saw long or large section timbers for a number of uses. With a working capacity of up to 12m and the ability to handle blocks upto 60cm square we are well placed to cut the more specialised lengths of timber that aren’t readily available. Some of the many uses for these longer or larger sections are roof beams in new build or regeneration work or larger commercial projects such as lock gates or even aquaducts. We can supply from a wide range of species though most beams are sawn from either Oak or Douglas Fir. We always keep a wide range of log sizes in stock at the mill and all material is sawn to order. For the more extreme sizes we can often source logs to suit, from either our own woodland or local estates.
