Harrison Spinks

We are delighted to be associated with a Leeds-based luxury bed manufacturer who have felled their first trees from its forest in Sand Hutton, Yorkshire.

The timber felled in the woodland by Job Earnshaws Ltd will now be kiln dried and ready for use in Harrison Spinks’ Leeds factory from the end April 2018. The Corsican Pine, Sycamore, Scots Pine and Mixed Broadleaves trees, will be used in its luxury divans and headboards.

The bed maker was founded in 1840 and is one of Britain’s most established and innovative bed and mattress manufacturers.

The 56-acre forest in Sand Hutton was acquired by the company to further its commitment to vertical integration and responsible manufacturing.

Harrison Spinks is one of the most vertically integrated bed manufacturers in the world, drawing its own wire for its unique spring technology and growing natural fillings on its own farm in Yorkshire.

The Harrison Spinks team has worked with forestry experts, Scurrah Associates, to create a woodland management plan that will work in the best interest of the natural ecosystem and the local community of Sand Hutton.

This includes a schedule of clear felling, replanting and thinning to develop standing timber.
