Outdoor seating with cover is available, so you can enjoy a break with a fresh barista coffee or your favourite tea, between browsing our displays, planning your next garden landscaping project or after exploring the nature trail.

Name that footprint!

For the adventurous among us, we have two nature trails of differing lengths at Midgley, for you to explore, with historical facts about the area dotted throughout.

The woodland walk and nature trails at our Midgley centre include a “Name That Footprint” trail, making our historic woodland walk an educational and fun-filled activity for all the family!

You can pick up your explorer clipboard from the Little Acorn and then explore our Nature Trail to identify twelve footprints of the furry and feathered friends on the trail! If you find all twelve you can collect a little treat from the Little Acorn! This activity is completely free and there’s no need to book.

Fairies living at Midgley?

Follow the nature trail in search of magical fairies – opened in March 23 local artist, Lanson Moore designed and created a new nature and fairy exhibition trail, which has now become an enchanting feature of our woodland walk in Midgley.

The new painted wooden artworks will offer children and families the opportunity to follow the nature trail in search of the magical fairies who guard this beautiful place. Keep your eyes peeled to find their homes dotted throughout our Nature Trail.

Pick up your Hidden Fairy Nature Trail activity sheet from the Little Acorn and let the magical fairy search begin.
