Northern Forest

We are delighted to hear about the Northern Forest Project!

The Northern Forest Project, which will be created along the M62 corridor, is naturally something we are delighted to hear about. Caring for woodlands and respecting natural habitats is one of the reasons we created our own Nature Trail at our Midgley Centre.

The Northern forest project is a somewhat bigger programme and according to the Woodland Trust it “promises to accelerate the creation of new woodland and support sustainable management of existing woods right across the area”.

The scheme has Government backing and will lead eventually to the planting of 50 million trees between Hull and Liverpool. Planting of the native broadleaf trees and conifers will begin in March and create safe habitats for bats, birds and red squirrels.
