warm and cozy fire with earnshaws

We are happy to hear that lovers of traditional wood burners, stoves and open fires will be able to enjoy the warmth of real flames, and the crackle of our air-dried logs, for years to come.

But following an announcement from the Government today, the sale of “wet wood” and bagged house coal will be phased out, as plans first announced 18 months ago, by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, are put into force. In a bid to reduce particulate pollution and poor air quality caused by the burning of wet wood and coal – which is often sold in bags on garage forecourts – its sale will be phased out from February 2021.

the glow of a roaring fire

At Earnshaws we are extremely proud of our sustainable timber products and our commitment to energy efficiency and recycling. We are delighted to reassure our customers that our range of firewood logs are either air-dried or kiln-dried before sale, with our moisture contents as low as 16 percent, with an even more impressive 6 percent for our briquettes.

Nothing beats the glow and cosy warmth of a real fire. Burning well-seasoned firewood logs is a pleasure we hope our customers can look forward to, well into the future.

Our range of firewood, logs, kindling and fuels is made up kiln-dried hardwood logs, air-dried hardwood logs and air-dried softwood logs. We also sell air-dried firewood offcuts, which are a mix of sizes created from our joinery workshop and kindling, which is split air-dried softwood joinery timber.

In addition to our range of firewood, we also stock firelighters, indoor and outdoor log stores, as well as fireside accessories, buckets and fire guards.
